Marianne North

Marianne North was a pioneering Victorian explorer and botanical illustrator. She was born in 1830 and travelled all over the world studying plants, animals and recording her finds set in the landscape in hundreds of her oil paintings.  My portrait plaque depicts her alongside one of her paintings carved in relief.
