In 2013 and 2014 as part of the remodelling of St Peters square in Manchester city centre and the installation of a new tram system it was decided to move the Cenotaph. This is a grade 1 listed monument and was designed by Edwin Lutyens.
This was a controversial decision but one that would allow a new space to be created some 150 metres from the original site. As part of the painstaking process of dismantling and moving all the elements I was charged with re-carving the badly worn crown on the north elevation of the Cenotaph.
