Cyril Flint Volunteers

The Cyril Flint Volunteers are a befriending charity for lonely and housebound people based in South Manchester.  This 1.6 tonne sandstone monolith in inscribed with their name and logo.  A competition was held involving local schools to design a logo that suggested friendship, the winning design of clasped hands captured the spirit of the organisation.   I carved this into the stone alongside branches of a tree and the inscription “companionship is to the soul as sun is to the garden’.
