I am one of the foremost portrait carvers in the UK working in marble, limestone, sandstone, as well as bronze and terracotta.

I work initially on a clay maquette (model) allowing the client to become fully involved in the design process and sculpted detail prior to final approval. Deciding on a scale and material can greatly influence the finished piece and helps to capture the personality of the subject in the final piece.  I have experience in sculpting solely from photographs if the subject is not available for a sitting.  Where historical figures are concerned I work with all available two dimensional references to do justice to the subject.
